Quick Configuration for Windows NT
1. Double-click on "My Computer" icon to display
Dial-Up Networking.
2. If it is your first Dial-Up Networking connection, just follow the
instructions on your screen. If it"s not your first connection, go to step 3.
3. Click New to start the New Phonebook Entry Wizard.
4. In Name the new phonebook entry, type a name for your access provider
(VIPowerNet is recommended).
5. Click the checkboxes that apply.
6. Click the name of the modem or adapter you will use to connect to your
access provider.
7. Type the VIPowerNet access phone number. That number is 714-3600 or 714-3601
for St. Thomas users and 773-0788 for St.Croix users.
(Exclude any area code or country code and make sure the "use country code and
dial properties box is un-checked).
8. Click Finish.
9. Click More, and then click Edit entry and modem properties. Click the Server
tab.
10. Be sure that Dial-Up server type is PPP, Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, and
Internet. Be sure that TCP/IP is selected,and then click TCP/IP Settings.
11. Be sure Server assigned name server addresses is selected.
12. Click on the security tab and make sure "accept any authentication
including clear text" box is checked. Click OK.
Quick Configuration for Windows 2000
1. Double-click on "My Computer" then "Control Panel"
then "Network & dial-up connection"
2. Double-click on "make new connection"
a. Choose Option #2 "Dialup to the internet"
b. Choose Option #3 "I want to setup my internet connection manually"
c. Choose Option #1 "I connect through my phone line"
3. Follow step 7 above
4. Enter username and password for dialup account(case sensitive)
5. Name the connection "VIPowerNet"(recommended)
6. Setup Email account if not already done so with your email information
7. Finish
8. Right Click(right hand side button on mouse) on the connection
9. Go to Properties, then click on "Networking" tab on top
10. Make sure "Internet Protocol TCP/IP" and "Client for Microsoft Network" is
selected
Quick Configuration for Windows ME
1. Click on Start Button (from your desktop).
2. Cliick on Settings.
3. Cliick on Dial-Up Networking.
4. Double-click on Make New Connection icon.
5. Enter VIPowerNet
6. Click on next
7. Enter 714-3600(St. Thomas) or 773-0788(St. Croix)
8. Select Country Code United States Virgin Islands (1)
9. Click on next
10. Click on Finish from the Dial-up Networking folder
11. Right click with your mouse on the VIPowerNet icon
12. Select properties
13. Make sure that the area code window is blank (Remove the 340)
14. The country code is set to United States Virgin Islands (1)
15. Remove the check from Use area code and Dialing Properties
16. Click on the Tab that says Security
17. Make sure your username and password are in the correct boxes
18. Click on OK
19. Right click on the VIPowerNet icon again and select "create shortcut"
20. Answer "yes" to send icon to your desktop
Quick Configuration for Windows 95 & 98
1. Double-click on My Computer icon (from your
desktop).
2. Double-click on Dial-Up Networking icon. (If this icon is not present
further installation required.
Refer to your Windows 95/98/ME installation guides, or call
the help desk at 714-3700)
3. Double-click on Make New Connection icon.
4. Enter VIPowerNet
5. Click on next
6. Enter 714-3600(St. Thomas) or 773-0788(St. Croix)
7. Select Country Code United States Virgin Islands (1)
8. Click on next
9. Click on Finish from the Dial-up Networking folder
10. Right click with your mouse on the VIPowerNet icon
11. Select properties
12. Click on Server Type tab button from the Allowed Network Protocol section
13. Deselect NetBEUI if selected
14. Deselect IPX/SPX if selected
15. Select TCP/IP if not selected
16. Click on OK and close window
17. Right click on the VIPowerNet icon again and select "create shortcut"
18. Answer "yes" to send icon to your desktop
