All email addresses have a specific format understood by all.
It is something@domainname
There are two kinds of email you should be familiar with
Web based: Can be accessed by any computer that has any kind of
internet access
Mail resides on a server rather than on your hardrive
Examples of Web based Email:
Message Center does not require configuration
Hotmail, Yahoo, Excite
These programs are called Web based because you can go to any
pc with internet access and check your mail.
PoP:
because you pop mail into your hardrive on your pc from the server
It requires configuration so that mail can be popped in from the
server
Examples of PoP:
-Outlook Express/Microsoft Outlook
-Netscape messenger
-Eudora
Although your browsers have a mail button, that
button actually opens an email program and just acts like a shortcut.
In Netscape, clicking on the mail button will open up Netscape's
very own email program Netscape Messenger. In Internet Explorer,
it will open up Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook.
